If you’re a newcomer to our country, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) may require you to see a physician to conduct a medical exam. This exam is meant to get an idea of your general health and determine if there are any major health concerns.
The exams take about 30 minutes. We have physicians who speak a number of different languages on hand to make the process more comfortable for you. Please note that in many cases your family doctor cannot perform the exam. This is because a doctor must be specially certified to perform immigration medical exams. Please bring a list of any medications you’re currently taking and any past or current medical conditions that required treatment from a physician specialist (ie. someone that your Family Doctor referred you to).
