MEDICAL EXAMS

Determining if an employee is ‘fit’ for duty is crucial for employers now more than ever, to ensure that their workforce is healthy as well as helping to reduce and even prevent workplace injuries.  Baseline and Periodic health assessments are completed, by a nurse or physician, to determine if an employee meets the standards, or Bona Fide Occupational Requirements (BFORs), set out for their position.  Bona Fide Occupational Requirements (BFORs) are the minimum physical standards, in keeping with Human Rights Legislation, for the applicant to be placed into a position

Designated Employer Representatives (DERs) will receive a ‘Fitness for Work’ certificate once the health assessment has been completed.  Occupational Health professionals, both nurses and physicians, are available to consult with our clients and help to navigate legislative requirements.

HEARING CONSERVATION AND AUDIO EVALUATIONS

Medicentres provides a complete hearing conservation program beyond baseline and periodic audiometric testing.  Noise is one of the most common occupational health hazards in industrial workplaces.  It causes hearing loss in many workers.  Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is 100% permanent and 100% preventable.  Employees are educated on proper hearing protection by a trained Audiometric Technician or Occupational Health Nurse, and will have their hearing test results explained to them after each test.

These services are available onsite at the client’s location, and within our own clinics.  Our knowledgeable staff are available to help clients understand the legislation and their requirements for compliance.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING PROGRAMS
Medicentres Occupational Health Services is a leader in drug and alcohol testing services.  As one of the first Third Party Administrators in Canada to mirror the updated testing panel put in place by the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace and the U.S. DOT Program, we go above and beyond for our clients to ensure that they are meeting or exceeding industry standards.

We offer a wide variety of drug and alcohol services, and are able to customize testing programs to meet our client’s needs.  Medicentres has online drug and alcohol reporting software that allows you to access results at any time, manage your employees’ information, and add and remove company administrators.  Medicentres Occupational Health Services provides scheduled on-site services as well as after-hours clients 24/7 emergency testing.
